Monroe Middle School

A Message from the Superintendent - 4/25/18

Dear Monroe Community:
As we approach the final months of the school year, we also begin planning for next year. In 2018-19, there will be some changes in Monroe Middle School’s administrative team.

After 10 years here at Monroe, Principal Sonntag has informed us that she is ready for the next step in her career and is seeking advancement positions in the greater Bay Area. She has served the MMS community well, and we thank her for her years of dedicated service to the students, staff and families of Monroe.

We are excited to announce that Mr. Gilbert Rodriguez will become Monroe’s new principal next school year. He has more than a decade of administrative experience in education, impressive leadership skills, and strong abilities in making positive connections with staff, parents and students. We are pleased to provide this consistency for the school.

Completing the Monroe administrative team will be Veronica Flores and Pablo Viramontes. Since 2007, Ms. Flores has been an instrumental leader at Monroe as a teacher, teacher coach and now as an administrator. Mr. Viramontes came to our district as a counselor in 2007 and was a Monroe Maverick for five years before becoming Dean of Students at Campbell Middle School in 2016. He is looking forward to returning to Monroe.

In our district, we believe in a strengths-based approach and that applies to our staff as well.  The strengths of this administrative team will provide a smooth transition for the MMS students and staff, and it will enable MMS to continue to make great academic strides and ensure that all students learn at high levels.

Sincerely,

Shelly Viramontez, Ed.D.

Superintendent
