Dear Monroe Families,

I hope this message finds you well. Please check out our website at monroe.campbellusd.org for up-to-date information, and be on the lookout for our communication that comes out on Wednesdays every two weeks.  For a student perspective on school news, please check out the Monday Minutes, our weekly student broadcast.

Upcoming Events

  • Our next PTA meeting is on October 21th at 6:30 PM in the Staffroom.  All are welcome.  At our next meeting, we will continue discussing our fundraising plans to support the transportation costs for field trips.

  • Our Leadership Team is hosting our first Movie Night on October 23rd from 6 PM to 8 PM.  We will be showing Ghostbusters (1984).  We will be selling snacks.  No tickets are required, but we will have a permission slip that will be passed out through Advisory.  Families are welcome, and we encourage you to bring chairs and blankets to enjoy the movie in the amphitheater.

 Halloween Costumes

Students will be allowed to wear costumes to school on October 30th.  Our leadership class will be having a costume competition that day as well.

If your child wants to wear a costume, please keep the following guidelines in mind:

  • No full masks; we need to be able to see students’ eyes

  • Students need to come to school in the costume

  • All regular dress code guidelines apply

  • No weapons or hand props allowed

Health and Safety

As the fall season approaches, it's important to stay mindful of our health. Regular handwashing is key to keeping everyone as healthy as possible. If your child has a fever, vomiting, or diarrhea, please keep them home until they are symptom-free to help prevent the spread of illness.

Attendance

  • To report an absence, please call our 24-hour voicemail line at 408-341-7022 or monroe_attendance [at] campbellusd.org (when leaving a message or sending an email, please let me know the student's first and last name, grade, and the reason for the absence)

Principal's Corner

I am writing to share a few important reminders about our school parking lot procedures. The safety of all our students is our top priority, and adhering to these guidelines is crucial for maintaining a smooth and secure drop-off and pick-up process.

We have a few specific requests to keep the flow of traffic moving and our children safe:

  1. Pull as Far Forward as Possible: When entering the drop-off/pick-up lane closest to the curb, please pull your vehicle as far forward as you can. This allows more cars to enter the designated area and keeps the line from backing up onto the street.

  2. Use the Curb Lane Only for Drop-off: Students must only exit or enter vehicles when they are stopped at the curb. The outer lane is designed for passing only once students are safely inside their cars or on the sidewalk. Do not  let your student out of the car in the outer passing lane.

  3. Keep Your Eyes Up: Please be fully present and watchful while driving in the parking lot. Avoid using cell phones and be prepared to stop suddenly for a child or crossing guard.

Your cooperation with these procedures ensures a safer, quicker experience for everyone. We know the parking lot can be busy, and your patience and adherence to these rules make a tremendous difference.

Thank you for your partnership in keeping our school community safe.

As always, we are here to answer your questions.  We appreciate you and your support for our school.
